1 - Respect Other Members
Please respect other member's comments and feelings. New York Tuners is a community for true automotive enthusiasts, not a community of those who talk smack. There is no reason to bring anyone down. Those "rice this" and "rice that" insults commonly seen on some other automotive forums can stay over there. That type of attitude will not be permitted on this site. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but please keep it mature. If you find that is too much to ask, there is a log out button located at the bottom of every page.
2 - Text Etiquette - Communicate Like An Adult (in English)
In an effort to keep New York Tuners an efficient and informative community, we are enforcing this thoroughly. "Ebonics" and the use of languages other than English will not be tolerated. While we will not be the grammar police, please user your better judgment and the education you payed for with tax dollars when making posts.
Everybody that is old enough to own and drive a car has enough education to communicate thoughts and ideas like a human being.
Typing like this: “1’m teh nUmb4 wun 5tuNNa” is not tolerated.
This type of language is hard to read and in the end renders the "search" function useless.
Other examples:
- Instead of typing "n-e-1", take the 2 extra seconds to type "anyone", "because" instead of "coz" or "cuz"
- Do not spell "what" like "wat", boy like "boi", or "my" like "muh"
Lastly, if making a lengthy post, it helps to use complete sentences and paragraphs. Longer posts are much easier to read if they are broken up into logical paragraphs and sections.
We understand that no one is the perfect typist in the world, but PLEASE, make an attempt to communicate as clearly as possible, it makes it so much easier for others to help you.
3 - Bumping Threads
One bump per day will be permitted, this includes your first post.
We know that you want your questions answered or parts sold but with that said, EVERYONE wants their questions answered and parts sold. So again, keep it fair for everyone here.
IF A THREAD IS BLATANTLY "BUMPED" MORE THAN ONCE PER DAY, IT WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT WARNING.
Basically, if you add nothing new to the thread but just want it placed on the front page for more people to see, it's a bump.
4 - Topic Subjects
Please make the subject of your new thread actually mean something and describe the thread's content for people searching the database. Your thread will be added to the search-able database so that it can help future members with the same problem.
We don't want to see topics like:
- "HEEELLPPPP!" (<<== What do you need help with?)
- "Question" (<<== What's the question)
- "For Sale" (<<== What's for sale?)
- "Hey Joe Schmo" (<<== Send him a private message)
- "Problem.." (<<== whats the problem?)
- "Tires" (<<== what about tires?)
If we see a thread with a subject like these, it will get locked or deleted because the topics used are unsearchable. So please follow this super easy request.
Also, please be courteous and keep swearing out of your Subject line and do not write all in CAPS... there's no need for it.
5 - Posting in the correct forum/thread
Make sure that you are posting in the correct forum for your topic. If the topic could go in multiple forums, please pick the one forum that best fits (i.e. try to avoid double posting).
7 - Buy/Sell/Trade Forum Etiquette
Dealers and or vendors are not permitted to use these forums unless they are a registered dealer with us. For more information please PM Administrator.
In order to create a for sale thread, members MUST have a minimum of 10 posts before doing so. Creating your for sale thread elsewhere to get around this will result in deletion of your thread. This will prevent lurkers and spammers from being able to just sign up and post classifieds with out becoming acquainted with the rest of the forum first.
The following template must be used when creating a for sale thread:
- Full Name
- Contact Preference
- Payment Preference
- Item Description
- Picture of item
Thread title(s) must be in the following format:
- WTS: Want to sell
- WTB: Want to buy
- WTT: Want to trade
EX) WTS: 16g Turbo
8 - Race/Ethnicity Threads
Any threads or posts about, limited to, or degrading any single race, ethnicity, nationality or religion will be deleted on the spot. Threads of this nature will only bring drama and hate in the future and we are trying to keep that to a minimum here on New York Tuners.
9 - Advertising Your Site/Business And/Or SPAM
Spamming is strictly prohibited and will result in an automatic permanent ban, deletion of all your threads, posts, and PMs.
If you wish to advertise with us or become a vendor, please do so by contacting the administrator of the site via PM or check out the advertising section of the site.
10 - No Porn and Not Suitable for Work
No pornographic or questionable material may be posted in the public forums, This includes avatars and signatures. Failure to comply with these rules may result in deletion of your thread, post, or banishment of your account.
Our goal is to keep this site semi work and school safe for those who don't have the pleasure of always viewing from home. This applies to avatars, signatures, pictures in posts, etc... If you'd like a picture of a tasteful female in a bikini, fine, but if her butt cheeks are spread wide open and giggling in animation, we cannot have this.
Any post or post with a link to material which may be inappropriate must be labeled accordingly. "NSFW" (not suitable for work) must be placed in the thread title to warn others of its contents, If you are unsure, put it anyways. Please be respectful.
